LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The White House is getting ready to release its regulatory agenda on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday, the fifth time Obama has released an agenda before a major holiday.

The last agenda, for spring 2014, was released on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, when millions were away from home.
The federal Unified Agenda is a regulatory road map which sets out thousands of regulations that will be finalized in the coming months.
"It's become an unfortunate tradition of this administration and others to drop these regulatory agendas late on a Friday and right before a holiday," said Matt Shudtz, the executive director of the Center for Progressive Reform.
"It's unfortunate because it's an update on protections for Americans of all stripes. It lays out the administration's plan and it deserves more attention."
Obama may have had to use this sneaky strategy because his agenda for fall 2014 included 3,415 regulations, including one that has 189 rules which will cost more than $100 million.
Were the American public and lawmakers not so interested in eating turkey and pie for Thanksgiving, the president would likely come under intense criticism for more executive overreach.
One of the most damning regulations that will be implemented regards greenhouse gas emissions from current and newer power plants. The agenda expects to finalize these regulations by 2015.
Republicans and a bipartisan coalition from the coal industry have attacked these new regulations. They say that implementing the newer regulations will lead to the demise of coal power and a sharp rise in the price of electricity.
Republicans have vowed to fight these new regulations.
